Gary Washburn, longtime Honokaa High School Jazz Band director and musical hero, will perform at a launch party for his new album, “Sassy,” on Nov. 17 in Honokaa.
With Washburn will be saxophonist Jesse Snyder, featured musician on the CD, who also plays with Grammy-nominated Hawaiian swing band, Kahulanui. Also joining in is vocalist Maelan Abran, who composed and performs “Irresistible,” one of the catchy tracks from the album. Washburn has also invited other musicians who played a part in “Sassy” to fill the evening with a variety of great music from smooth jazz to rhythm and blues, boogie-woogie, old school pop and more. There is no cover charge for the premier event, which will be held from 6-8:30 p.m., at Cafe Il Mondo on Mamane Street.
“Sassy” was released Oct. 7, and is available on Amazon, iTunes and other digital venues.
