In the Eastern Pacific, Tropical Depression 2-E was expected move inland across the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, today. As of this morning, the cyclone was packing 35 mph winds, and forecasters said that 2-E could become a tropical storm after making landfall. It would like weaken and dissipate thereafter as it moves over mountainous terrain.
Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center in Miami said 8 to 12 inches of rain could fall as the storm moves inland. A tropical storm warning is in effect for the Pacific Coast, from Salina Cruz to Puerto Escondido.
