Walter Carvalho Jr

Walter Boy John “Moose” Carvalho Jr., 67, of Hilo died Feb. 1, 2018. He was born on Oct. 9, 1950, and was a retired counselor for Social Services.

A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 3 at Onekahakaha Beach Park Pavilion No. 4. No flowers. Monetary donations accepted.

He is survived by Partner Rocky L. Kahalekai, mother Rosemarie Smith, of Arizona; son, Jonathan I. (Misty) Carvalho; daughters, Wiley Ann Ala (Theo) Carvalho of Missouri, Wennealynn (Sam) Carvalho of Maui, Wallissa (Jr.) Carvalho of Waimea; sisters, Sandra Mensza, Stella (Donald) Kaawahau, Amber (Terry) Santos Bra; nine grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Iris Boshard

Mrs. Iris Uli’I Boshard, 91, of Kailua-Kona, died Feb. 11, 2018, at her residence. Born on Oct. 2, 1926, in Hilo, she was a director and educator at the Mokuaikaua NursingSchool, a member of Mokuaikaua Congregational Church and the King of Kings Church.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. March 3 at Mokuaikaua Congregational Church in Kailua-Kona for a memorial service from 3-4:30 p.m. A luau celebration will be held at Hulihee Palace in Kailua-Kona.

She is survived by her husband, Henry Boshard of Kailua-Kona; daughters, Jo-Anna Boshard of Kailua-Kona and Pam (D. Napoleon) of Honolulu; sons, Jon Boshard of Kaimuki, Oahu and Brian Kaunaloa (Halani) Boshard of Kailua-Kona; hanai daughter, Kalehua Meheula; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Roy Carley

Roy Ronald Carley, 69, of Kapaau, died Feb. 21, 2018, at his residence. Born Jan. 16, 1949, in New Britain, Conn., he was a retired teacher for Kohala Mission School and a member of Kohala Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hawi.

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. March 7 at Kohala Seventh-day Adventist Church in Hawi with service at 2 p.m.

He is survived by wife, Bonnie Carley of Kapaau; daughter, Lynice Trevino of Plano, Texas; son, Randall Carley of Kapaau; brothers, Edward Carley of Loma Linda, Calif., Walter Carley of Berrien Center, Mich.; hanai sister, Doris (Robert) Bevins of Clarkston, Wash.; five grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, numerous nieces and nephews.

Floyd Ching

Floyd Akina Pang Ching, 80, of Hilo, died Feb. 11, 2018, at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired electrician with Henry &Louie Kelii Electric, Mauna Kea Electric and American Electric then later worked as a truck driver for Conen’s Freight Transport, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW).

Friends may call 3-5 p.m. March 3 at the Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 5 p.m. memorial service. Casual attire, no flowers.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jane “B.J.” Pang Ching of Hilo; sons, Keola F. (Bridgette) Pang Ching of Seattle, Mark (Paulette) Pang Ching of Hilo and Jonathan (John Cook) Pang Ching of Bel Air, Calif.; daughters, Myra Lee Pili McGuire of Honolulu, Melissa L. Pang Ching of Hilo and Yonnell (Keone) Farias of Hilo; hanai sons, Christopher Bernabe of Hilo, Daniel Bernabe of Molokai and Joe Bernabe of Hilo; sister, Roseline (Sam) Chun of Hilo; 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Annie Ferreira

Annie Edna (Carreira) Ferreira, 92 of Hilo, died February 18, 2018. Born on July 16, 1925, she was a sales clerk at Holme’s Store, Kurohara’s, Evelyn Margolis and The Men’s Shop, a member of Y Ms Ladies Auxillary and PCC.

Friends may call from 8-10 a.m. March 1 at Immaculate Heart of Mary 27-186 Kaapoko Homested Road in Papaikou for a 10 a.m. Mass. Burial to follow at Veteran’s II 110 Laimana Road in Hilo.

She is survived by husband William Ferreira; sons, Patrick Ferreira of Papaikou, Russell (Stephanie) Ferreira Lett of New Jersey; daughter, Karen (Manuel “Leroy) Cordeiro of Ahualoa; sister, Josephine Victorine of Hawaiian Beaches; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Domiciano Villena

Domiciano “Domy” S. Villena, 90, of Hawi, died Feb. 7, 2018, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born on Dec. 28, 1927, in Pangasinan, Philippines; he was a retired pro golf attendant and maintenance worker for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, worked at Kona Lagoon Hotel and Keauhou Beach Hotel and at KTA Kona Super Store and he was a member of the St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau, Kohala Kumiai and Kohala Senior Citizen.

Friends may call from 5:30-7 p.m. March 1 at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, for a 7 p.m. wake service. An all-night vigil will be held at 6 p.m. on March 2 at the family residence in Hawi. Friends may also call 8-10 a.m. March 3, at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Kapaau, for an 11 a.m. funeral service. Casual attire; burial at the St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church Cemetery in Kapaau.

He is survived by sons, Aquino (Darlene) Villena of Hawaiian Paradise Park and Danie (Linda) Villena of Hilo; daughters, Anafe (Wilson) Bernisto of Hawaiian Paradise Park, Vicky (Orlino) Valiente of Waikoloa, Nellie (Derek Higa) Villena and Elma (Ben) Bruno of Kohala, Ester (John) Acorda of Paauilo and Erlinda Serrao of Hilo; hanai daughter, Ingrid (Robert) Clark of Kohala; sister, Conchita (Donald) Quison of Kohala; 25 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren; numerous cousins.

Masayo Yamashita

Mrs. Masayo Yamashita, 89, of Captain Cook, died Feb. 5, 2018, at Kona Community Hospital. Born April 12, 1928, in Kainaliu, she was a teller at Finance Factors Savings and Loan Company. She was a member of Lifewater Church (formerly Central Kona Union) and Hanei Kumiai.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. March 3 at Lifewater Church in Kealakekua; memorial service at 11 a.m. For further information please contact Sharon Yamashita at (808) 345-6623. The family requests casual attire.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Yamashita of Captain Cook; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
