KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police responded to Kealakehe High School at 12:15 p.m. Thursday to a report of a female juvenile being transported to the Kona Community Hospital by medics after ingesting a brownie, passing out and experiencing convulsions.
KAILUA-KONA — Hawaii Island police responded to Kealakehe High School at 12:15 p.m. Thursday to a report of a female juvenile being transported to the Kona Community Hospital by medics after ingesting a brownie, passing out and experiencing convulsions.
Upon investigation, it was determined that another student had sold her a brownie believed to contain marijuana, the Hawaii Police Department said. The boy was brought to the office, and additional brownies were located upon search, by school officials, of his backpack.
A second student was also located in possession of a brownie and had additional marijuana in his backpack, which was located upon search by school officials.
Upon processing of the two male juveniles at the Kealakehe Police Station, a second female juvenile at Kealakehe High School was reported to have experienced a medical emergency related to the ingestion of a brownie. This female juvenile was also transported to the Kona Community Hospital by medics. She was admitted for observation after an elevated heart rate that was not subsiding.
The first female juvenile was treated and released.
Anyone with information on the incident asked to contact Officer Mike Thompson via the department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311.
Arrest them for assault. Parents shoulds sue the little jerks!
Many fathers equip their boys with home grown dope to sell at school on this island. Where else would the teens get it from? Konawaena yearbook ran even an ad from ‘Conscious Riddins’ drug paraphernalia store incl marijuana leafs.
You make two assumptions: 1) the dope comes from fathers (anti-male, are we?) and 2) fathers give it to their boys to sell. Prove it. Your assumption is naive and biased.
Sorry, I forgot stepfathers and mom’s live-in boyfriend(s) as well. Having had kids in Konawaena and Kealakehe I trust their observations.

If I recall correctly the poster you refer to was AGAINST dope on this island and had plenty of funny and not-so-funny jokes about it. I could care less –drug yourself out of your skulls. Just not in school or on roads.
The lesson here is that illegal dealers don’t card, legal dispensaries do.
No edibles are allowed at dispensaries because lawmakers won’t allow it. That’s an issue. People have to go on the black market for untested, unlabeled product.
Point taken. However, the point I was trying to make was that in a prohibitionist market, it increases the probability of things like this happening (i.e. -bootleg liquor blinding people).
I want the brownies tested. Causing seizures? Unlikely. What was in the mix?
