KAILUA-KONA — No tsunami was generated by a magnitude-6.7 earthquake that struck Tuesday morning in Japan.
The temblor, reported at 8:07 a.m. Hawaii time, was located near the Hokkaido island in Japan, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center in Honolulu.
The center said that based on all available data, a destructive Pacific-wide tsunami is not expected and there is no threat of a tsunami to Hawaii.
