Cesspool project wrong for Ka’u
People will be evasive for two reasons; either it’s not your business to know what they are doing, or they are doing something wrong and they don’t want you to know about it.
The reason that both the county’s Department of Environmental Management and the federal Environmental Protection Agency’s Drinking Water Branch are being evasive about the two Ka’u gang-cesspool projects belonging to Hawaii County, is that the proposed plans have turned into a boondoggle.
It is unnecessary to use a lagoon system on a large acreage when smaller solutions will fit the current properties. This change of plan was never revealed to the public at the time. We only found out 10 years later when the lagoon plan was announced. It is an expensive wastewater utopia — no wonder they didn’t tell us.
Smaller solutions cost less, but less money means fewer favors going to politicians and bureaucrats. Let’s call this Green Collar Crime. It is wrong for Ka’u.

Forum needed now that primaries are over
Now that the primaries are long gone, why aren’t any organizations having some type of debate, forum, or candidates’ night for those who successfully made it through the primary, prior to the general election?
Perhaps those who had such forums for the primary candidates, and there were many people running, don’t think the voters need to be aware of the different positions for those who will still be on the ballot.
I look forward to expressing my views on those issues that most concern the voters, more so than that which I presented during the primary forum. But as a candidate I cannot offer to do this because it would be, as I see it, campaigning. And that is something the majority of voters doesn’t need or want — more paid campaigning.
It appears that mostly all other candidates would be explaining how the other candidate is wrong, but I don’t think voters need to be told what is right about one and wrong about his or her opponent. I would offer only how I am different, exactly like I’ve been doing before the primary and up until the present. Then it is up to the voters to decide who to vote for.
I want to tell what my views are for any and all subjects presented to me. I would do this without referencing the views of any other person or group. And I don’t care where my opponent stands on an issue; I will only present my views and then let the voters decide.
So please, if you represent some organization who believes in a fair election, have the candidates come together for a forum. Then we can have a true discussion without the bother and distraction of printed candidate’s campaign material.
I don’t know if I will win, but if you do then please provide me with the winning lottery numbers!
