Submissions open in February for the second annual Made in Hawaii Film Festival, happening on Hawaii Island in June of this year.
The independent film festival brings a weekend long-lineup of Hawaii-made content to the Hilo Palace Theater on June 1 and June 2, with a follow up “Best of Fest” evening at Kona’s Aloha Theater on June 14.
Submissions open Feb. 1 and run through March 15. Categories include feature-length and short narrative films, documentaries, music videos and web series. To qualify, projects must have at least 50 percent of principal photography shot within the state of Hawaii, completed no earlier than January 2016.
“We’re thrilled to be bringing the festival back to Hawaii Island for a full weekend run, plus a follow up in South Kona,” festival executive director Zoe Eisenberg said in a press release. “We can’t wait to see what Hawaii-based filmmakers have been working on this past year.”
Submissions must go through Without a Box, and filmmakers can find more information on www.MIHFF.org, or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MadeInHawaiiFilmFestival.
