KAILUA-KONA The Kona Aloha Singers (KAS), a new, nonprofit contemporary and popular music chorus in Kailua-Kona, will appear in their first public performance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at King Kamehamehas Kona Beach Hotel.
KAILUA-KONA — The Kona Aloha Singers (KAS), a new, nonprofit contemporary and popular music chorus in Kailua-Kona, will appear in their first public performance at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at King Kamehameha’s Kona Beach Hotel.
Featuring artistic director Katya Eaddy, KAS will sing music from movies and Broadway hit shows including “The Sound of Music,” “Mamma Mia!” and “Lord of the Rings.” Also, some favorite Hawaiian songs and music from Queen, Leonard Cohen, The Eagles, Enya and more will be featured.
Eaddy is a Russian native and graduate of the prestigious Moscow Music College with a bachelor’s degree in violin and a master’s degree in choir conducting. Eaddy worked as a choir conductor in private and public schools in Russia. In 1994, she moved to Alaska and became an American citizen.
While living in Alaska, she conducted community college choirs and taught private voice and music lessons. She moved to the Big Island in 2016, and late last year, helped with the launch of the Kona Aloha Singers, working as their first artistic director. She lives in Waimea and continues to teach private music lessons.
