Hawaii County announced Tuesday it is working with The Food Basket, the Hawaii National Guard and the State Sheriff’s Division to provide food drop-offs islandwide in May amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Hawaii County announced Tuesday it is working with The Food Basket, the Hawaii National Guard and the State Sheriff’s Division to provide food drop-offs islandwide in May amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Motorists should be aware of the potential for traffic congestion near the food distribution sites before and during the drop-off events. The Hawaii Police Department, the National Guard and Sheriff’s Division are assisting with traffic control.
The following drop-offs are slated in West Hawaii during May:
• Waimea/Waikoloa Community Distribution will take place from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at Waimea District Park.
• Ocean View Community Distribution will take place 10 a.m. to noon May 11 at Kahuku Park.
• Honaunau/Ho‘okena Community Distribution will take place 10 a.m. to noon at Ho‘okena Elementary School
• Kohala Community Distribution will take place 10 a.m. to noon May 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hawi.
• Kona Community Distribution will take place 10 a.m. to noon May 21 at Kekuaokalani Gymnasium.
• Honoka‘a Community Distribution will take place 1 to 3 p.m. May 22 at Honoka‘a Sports Complex and Skate Park
• Pahala Community Distribution will take place 10 a.m. to noon May 26 at Ka‘u District Gym.
