Big Island police arrested 11 people last week for violating Gov. David Ige of a stay-at-home order, bringing the total number of arrests since the order went into effect March 25 to 94.
Between May 6 and Tuesday, officers also cited 20 persons for “prohibited acts” in violation of Ige’s order, according to statistics released Wednesday afternoon by the Hawaii Police Department.
In Kona, six people were arrested and seven people cited, according to police. Five people were cited in South Kohala.
In East Hawaii, South Hilo saw five people arrested and four people cited, according to police. In Puna, four people were cited.
Violation of the stay-at-home order is a misdemeanor offense that carries up to a year in jail and a fine of no more than $5,000. Since the start of the stay-at-home order at 12:01 a.m. March 25, Hawaii Police Department officers have arrested 72 and issued 186 citations.
Ige extended the order through 11:59 p.m. May 31.
