Police locate 17-year-old reported as runaway

Update: The Hawaii Police Department reported Monday that Layne Tomlinson was located in the Hilo area and is in good health. He had previously been reported as a runaway.

Hawaii Island police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a juvenile male who was reported as a runaway.

Layne Tomlinson, 17, was last seen June 10 in the Hilo area, according to the Hawaii Police Department. He may be in the Tiki Gardens area of Puna.

Tomlinson is described as being 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighing 120 pounds with curly black hair, brown eyes and tan complexion.

Anyone who may have information regarding the whereabouts of Tomlinson should contact Detective Clarence Acob of the Area I Juvenile Aid Section at (808) 961-8839 or via email at clarence.acob@hawaiicounty.gov or the police nonemergency line at (808) 935-3311.
