State health officials Saturday reported 127 new cases of COVID-19, including two new cases on Hawaii Island.
With the new cases, the statewide total reached 12,018 and Hawaii Island’s total hit 693, according to the noon update by the Hawaii COVID-19 Joint Information Center.
Meanwhile, Oahu reported 124 new cases, bringing the state’s most populous island’s total case count to 10,848 and Kauai reported one new case, increasing the Garden Island’s case count to 59. Maui County’s case count held steady at 388 as did the number of cases diagnosed outside the state at 30.
Of the known cases in Hawaii to date, some 1,892 of those cases are still considered active. That includes 119 of the known cases on Hawaii Island.
Statewide, 802 COVID-19 patients have required hospitalization, including 40 on Hawaii Island, according to the center’s noon update.
The center also reported four new deaths, all among Oahu residents.
Of the 131 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported to date among Hawaii residents, 106 were on Oahu, nine were on Maui, 15 were on Hawaii Island, and one was a Kauai resident receiving treatment in Arizona at the time he died.
Hawaii County Civil Defense reported no new deaths. To date, 28 Hawaii Island residents, including 26 residents of the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home, have died from the novel coronavirus. The state has yet to confirm the last 13 deaths.
