The Big Island’s COVID-19 case count increased by three on Monday, bringing the total number of cases to date to 2,198.
The new Big Island cases were among 33 new cases reported across the state by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 21 new cases while Maui County reported seven and Kauai zero. Two residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
The Big Island on Monday had a 0.8% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1.7%.
Statewide, to date, there have been 26,500 people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, 64 people remained hospitalized Monday, including one on the Big Island. To date, 2,106 people have required hospitalization, including 112 on the Big Island.
Two new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Monday by the state, both on Oahu. Of the 418 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 335 were on Oahu, 26 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
The Big Island’s COVID-19 fatality rate remained at 2.4% on Monday, above the statewide rate of 1.6%.
