The Big Island reported eight new COVID-19 cases Saturday, bringing the total number of cases to 2,264.
Statewide, a total of 87 new cases were reported Saturday by the Department of Health. Oahu reported 33 of those cases, Maui County 42 and Kauai none. Three residents were diagnosed while outside the state.
Statewide, to date, there have been 27,838 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. The Big Island on Saturday had a 0.7% test positivity rate, below the statewide rate of 1%.
Over the past two weeks, the Big Island has reported 37 cases or an average of 3.4 cases per day.
Statewide, 27 people were hospitalized Saturday, one of whom was receiving care on the Big Island. To date, 2,226 people have required hospitalization, including 115 on the Big Island.
One new coronavirus-related death was reported on Saturday by the state on Maui. Of the 444 coronavirus-related deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 353 were on Oahu, 34 were on Maui, 53 were on the Big Island and one on Kauai. Three deaths were among residents outside the state.
No deaths have been reported on the Big Island this year.
