AAUW awards scholarships
The American Association of University Women has awarded its 2021 scholarships to four high school graduates and one scholarship to a second-year Hawaii Community College — Palamanui student.
Three students will receive $2,000 scholarships and two will receive $1,000 scholarships to assist their future education goals.
The recipients are Anastasia (Kahina) Benbouzid-Hewitt, Tiare Quintal, Alianna West-Rodrigues, Keilana Crane and Aelyn Ibarra Medina.
Benbouzid-Hewitt will attend University of Hawaii Hilo where she will be studying environmental science and Hawaiian studies to become a Hawaiian plant conservationist.
Quintal will attend Boise State University. She will be studying nursing with a minor in interior design.
West-Rodrigues plans to go to Emerson College where she was recruited to play soccer. She plans to study journalism/broadcasting and wants to be a sports announcer.
Crane will start her second year at Palamanui Community College and is studying Liberal arts. She received an AAUW scholarship to Palamanui in 2020. She is excelling academically and also working as a teaching assistant for one of her professors.
Ibarra Medina will attend Hawaii Community College — Palamanui to obtain a liberal arts degree and plans to transfer to University of Hawaii at Manoa to study environmental design and architecture and plans to be an architect.
