Alva Luafalemana Sr.

Alva “Squeaky” Luaao Kalolo Luafalemana Sr., 56, of Hilo, died June 10, 2021, at his residence. Born Jan. 20, 1965, in Honolulu, he was a security officer for Wackenhut.

Private services will be held.

He is survived by wife, Mary Medeiros; daughters, Sanchel (William Scrimshaw) Orso, Tara (Ozzie Meyers) Luafalemana, Salamasina Luafalemana and Jazmine Luafalemana; son, Alva Luafalemana Jr.; sisters, Merle Luafalemana and Louann (Mike) Satele; brother, Stretch (Georgette) Masoli; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Sarai Lesser

Sarai Lesser, 64, of Hilo, died Feb. 23, 2021, at Kaiser Moanalua on Oahu. Born in Paia, Western Samoa, she was a restorative aide at Hale Anuenue Restorative Center in Hilo.

Private services to be held. Burial at Homelani Memorial Park.

She is survived by husband, James Lesser; sons, Frederick Lesser and Herbert Lesser; father, Moliola Leremia; mother, Sioi Tanielu; brothers, Esau Leremia, Tanielu Leremia, Faaaliga Leremia, Alani Leremia, Sagalala Leremia, and Tulagalua Leremia; and sisters, Seeseei Leremia Mataia, Naomi Leremia Alatasi, and Siiae Leremia Hunt.

Alberto Adviento

Alberto Mabilin Adviento, 81, of Captain Cook, died on May 2, 2021, at his residence. Born May 11, 1939, in Urdaneta, Pangasinan, Philippines, he was a coffee and macadamia nut farmer and a vegetable supplier.

Services were held.

He is survived by wife, Clara Adviento; son, Roger Adviento; daughters, Rufina Adviento and Ruby Adviento, all of Captain Cook; sister, Erlinda Adviento of Philippines; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Genevieve Berry

Genevieve Pualani Berry, 56, of Kailua-Kona, died June 24, 2021, at Kona Community Hospital. Born June 26, 1964, in Honolulu, she was a customer service representative for Hertz Rent a Car.

Services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by husband, Raymond Berry Sr., of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Kalei Martinez of Pahoa; son, Raymond Berry Jr., of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Elizabeth Kaahaaina-Mikasobe and Ruth Onekea, both Oahu; brother, David (Dorothea) Kaahaaina Sr., Matthew (Teri) Kaahaaina Sr., and Albert (Bernadette) Kaahaaina, all of Oahu; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Loretta Carpio

Loretta Virginia Carpio, 78, of Waimea, died June 25, 2021, in Waimea. Born April 23, 1943, in Paauilo, she worked in the culinary arts and retired from the Mauna Kea Beach Resort.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. July 17 for fellowship at the family residence. Burial will be at Hawi County Cemetery.

She is survived by spouse, Simplicio Carpio Sr.; sons, Simplicio (Virginia Reposa) Carpio Jr. of Paauilo, Vernal (Suzanna Lopez) Carpio of Ainaloa, and Stuart Carpio of Clackamas, Oregon; daughters, Lisa (Dennis) Peters of Honokaa, and Lori (Carl) Crossley of Henderson, Nevada; brother Abraham Agustin Sr. of Paauilo; sisters, Mable Pai of Kona, and Florence Gacayan and Berlinda Tuson, both of Paauilo; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

John Wilkinson

John “Sean” Christopher Wilkinson, 97, of Kailua-Kona, died June 9, 2021, at his residence. Born July 13, 1923, in Dublin, Ireland, he was a musical entertainer, a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, American Federation of Musicians and #677 Honolulu local.

Services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.

He is survived by wife, Patricia Wilkinson of Kailua-Kona; and granddaughter, Tiffany Strickland of Kailua-Kona.

Lawrence Olsen Jr.

Lawrence “Larry” H. Olsen Jr., 70, of Waimea, died June 17, 2021, at his residence. Born in Weymouth, Massachusetts, he was a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran (naval aviation operator), geologist, safety engineer, teacher, fly fisher and member of St. James Episcopal Church in Waimea.
