Ninety-one new cases of COVID-19 were reported Friday on the Big Island, pushing the island’s total case count to 10,097.
Statewide, 366 new cases were reported Friday, bringing the state’s total to 79,572 since late February 2020, according to the Department of Health.
According to the DOH, 4,883 new cases have been reported in Hawaii in the past 14 days, including 792 on the Big Island. There has been an average of 301.1 new cases the past seven days statewide with the Big Island averaging 51 cases per day.
Kona, Hilo, Keaau and Pahoa had the largest cases over a 14 day period on the island with 167, 188, 78 and 93 cases respectively.
Hawaii County Friday had a seven-day test positivity rate of 5.3%, still above the state’s 3.8% positivity rate.
On Friday, 20 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized on the Big Island. Three of the island’s 24 ICU beds were available with five of the beds occupied by COVID-positive patients. Three of the five COVID patients were on a ventilator.
Seven new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Friday; including one on the Big Island. Of the 789 deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 598 were on Oahu, 87 were on Maui, 91 were on the Big Island and eight on Kauai. Five deaths were among residents outside the state.
