Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island was recently awarded funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to rehabilitate and modify the primary residence of low-income, disabled veterans.
Habitat for Humanity Hawaii Island was recently awarded funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to rehabilitate and modify the primary residence of low-income, disabled veterans.
This program is for disabled veterans whose household income is 80% or less of HUD’s current median income. The home must be a permitted structure and the applicant intends to stay in this home for at least five years after the repair and modification has been completed.
Only repairs and modifications necessary to alleviate health and safety concerns will be considered. Cost for any work done may be waived or discounted depending if the applicant’s housing cost is more or less than 30% of his/her income during any month.
