John Barsell Jr.
John Edward Barsell, Jr., 88 of Waimea, died April 29, 2022, in Waimea. Born Nov. 25, 1933, in Chicago, he was a U.S. Air Force and Navy veteran, and worked as deputy attorney general for the California State Attorney General’s Office.
Friends may all at 11:30 a.m. May 5 at West Hawaii Veteran’s Cemetery for graveside services with burial to follow.
He is survived by spouse Sandra; daughters, Carolyn Mondot of Reno, Nevada, and Elizabeth Barsell of Danville, California; sons John (Gia) Barsell of Alamo, California, and Michael (Tracy) Barsell of Walnut Creek, California; brother Richard Barsell of San Diego; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Nicolas Galeon
Nicolas R. Galeon, 96, of Hilo died April 10, 2022. Born Dec. 5, 1925 in Payoay, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he retired as a tireman with the Waiola Tire Co.

He is survived by wife, Josephine Galeon of Hilo; brother, Constante Galeon of the Philippines and sister, Dominica Galeon of the Philippines.

Harriet Kraan
Harriet Ann “Maha” Namahaokalani Kraan, 74, of Kapaau, died April 23, 2022 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born Nov. 10, 1947, she was a chef at the Mauna Lani Resort.
No services planned.
She is survived by sons, Christopher Kraan of Oahu, Patrick Kraan of Kapaau and Kapono (Darlene) Kraan of Pearl City, Oahu; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Steven Hernandez
Steven “Canary” Matthew Hernandez, 72, of Mountain View and formerly of Kalihi, Oahu, died April 25, 2022, at his residence. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired mason/tile setter for The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1 Hawaii.
Friends may call at 2 p.m. May 13 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 4 p.m. service. Cremation follows on May 14. Casual attire. No flowers.
He is survived by children, Crystal Meacham of Las Vegas, Stephanie (Devin) Worsham of Makaha, Oahu, and Emitt (Staci Gushiken) Hernandez of Kurtistown; sisters, Diane Mesa of Makaha, Oahu, and Rosita Kishimoto of Kalihi, Oahu; three grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
