Makua Lani Christian Academy students on Friday showcased their knowledge of selective countries and customs at the school’s International Day.
Five countries were represented, as well as the Big Island’s paniolo, through dance, crafts and food. The keiki, in grades junior kindergarten through four, and parents rotated through stations showcasing the cultures from the Big Island, Guatemala, Vietnam, Japan, Scotland and England, sampling cuisine from each region.
Principal Reagan Daniels said the school holds the annual event every October.
“The kids study the culture about their selected country. It represents the beauty of God’s people, all unique. It shows the imprint God has on all of these people,” said Daniels.
