Diane Revell, a long-time member of Hawaii Writers Guild, was announced as the organization’s new president at its annual meeting on Jan. 21.
Revell, who joined the guild in 2017. served as its secretary from October of that year until January 2022. She also participated in the committee that worked to obtain the guild’s 501(c)(3) status as a nonprofit organization and she played a large role on the committee that wrote the bylaws.
After she stepped down as secretary, Revell continued to work on behalf of members of the guild. On her own initiative, she wrote a “New Member Guide” to help orient new members.
When the leader of the Kohala Writers Group resigned, Revell, who lives in Hawi, replaced her, and when the position of regional director for North Kohala opened up, she agreed to return to the guild’s board of directors in that position. Revell will continue in these latter two roles as she takes on her new duties as president.
“Under the leadership of President-elect Diane Revell, we all are looking forward to a successful year for the guild and its members,” said Vice President Bruce Stern, who hosted the annual meeting.
