Waveriders go down fighting against Warriors

Despite the sweep, Kealakehe showed heart and resilience by extending multiple rallies and making Waiakea earn everything — especially in the final set. Head coach Mervlyn Simmons labeled the match as a stepping stone in getting to where the Waveriders want to be by the end of the season.
“I couldn’t have been more proud of them,” she said postgame. “Compared to last time we played Waiakea, we’ve definitely progressed and I loved to see them put up a fight.
“We’re starting to find that connection and trusting one another. Little steps will get us to where we want to go, and that’s a win for me.”
