Police ID motorcyclist killed in Kona crash

Police have released the identity of a 19-year-old motorcyclist who died in a two-vehicle crash Friday on the Queen Kaahumanu Highway in North Kona.

He is identified as Noah Edward Zandstra.

Police say he was riding southbound on a green 2024 Kawasaki Ninja sport bike and passing multiple vehicles when he crashed head-on into a northbound silver 2021 Honda CR-V driven by a 65-year-old Waimea woman.

Zandstra died hours later at Kona Community Hospital, while the Honda driver was treated and released at Queen’s North Hawaii Community Hospital.

Zandstra’s death is the 28th official traffic fatality this year, compared to 15 at the same time last year.
