WAIMEA — Hawaii Preparatory Academy boys soccer ended its regular-season slate in a dominant fashion on Thursday afternoon at home, routing the visiting Konawaena Wildcats 8-1.
Ka Makani’s Skye Raymond led the way with a hat trick, while teammates Kena Craven, Jaredn Peltier, Taiga Moriyama, Devin Cordeiro and Zach Montgomery all scored one each. It was the fourth time this season in which HPA has scored six or more goals.
The paper was unable to locate the Wildcats’ lone scorer.
Ka Makani ends its regular season at 6-2-1 overall, posting a 39-5 goal differential. As of Friday afternoon, the Big Island Interscholastic Federation (BIIF) had not released its playoff brackets, but HPA is expected to have a spot in the DII slate early next week.
Kona finishes its season 2-5-2 overall after winning its first two games of the season.
KSH 9, Parker 0
Another dominant regular season for Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i boys soccer wrapped up Thursday on the Warriors’ campus.
KSH won 9-0 against the visiting Parker Bulls, clinching its third shutout of the season. It is widely expected that the Warriors will have the top seed in the BIIF DII tournament. It was the second straight season in which the Warriors posted an unbeaten regular season (9-0-0).
Micah Chung and Jacob Aiona led KSH with two goals apiece, followed by Xander Hoopai, Caleh Carvalho, Kanoa Honda, Gabriel Arquitola and Iopa Quintana with one each.
The Warriors finished the regular season with a 49-8 goal differential. Their first matchup of the DII island playoffs is to be announced (as of Friday afternoon). Games are expected to start Monday, with the higher seed hosting.
Parker concluded the year at 0-8-0.
