KSH 16, Kea‘au 0
Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i baseball won its first regular season game of the year after a 16-0 run rule of Kea‘au on Tuesday afternoon at Kea‘au High School. The Cougars fell to 0-2.
The Warriors scored five runs in the first inning, nine in the second and two in the third. Senior Shiloh Santos was the game’s winning pitcher — throwing for 3.0 innings while allowing no hits and striking out five. Teammate Noah Palea also saw time on the mound, pitching for one full inning while striking out a Cougar batter.
Kea‘au went to three different pitchers to try to combat KSH’s offensive outburst, but nothing seemed to work. Rupert Gomes Cabral threw for 1.67 innings, allowing four hits and nine runs. Scott Ebesuno and Mikah Ibanez were the other two Cougar pitchers, combining for seven allowed runs.
The Warriors finished with 10 hits, led by Keagan Pacheco with three and four RBI. Teammate Justin Kubojiri added two, followed by Braden Gomes, Noah Palea, Kamaka Ili, Iolepa Martines and Kanai Nettrour with one each.
Kea‘au failed to log a single hit.
KSH will look to add onto its strong season start with its home matchup against Konawaena — scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday in Kea‘au. The Cougars next game is to be determined.
