Manuel Dugay Afaga, 79, of Waikoloa died Feb. 23 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a golf attendant at Mauna Kea Beach Resort, former co-owner of Waikoloa Taxi and member of St. Michael’s the Archangel Catholic Church and International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local No. 142. Visitation 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Kailua-Kona. Mass at 10 a.m. Burial noon at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa. Wayne Hidemi Kaneshiro, 80, of Hilo died Jan. 30 in a private care home in Hilo. Born in Kukuihaele, he was retired from the State of Hawaii Department of Education as a business teacher at Hilo High School, was a member of Hawaii State Teachers Association, Hawaii Business Educators Association and former member of 1023 Golf Club and Homestead “C” Kumiai Softball and formerly coached basketball at Molokai High School, Honokaa High School and Hilo High School and assisted with coaching the University of Hawaii at Hilo women’s basketball team.
