Jerry Stanley Acol, 72, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 11, 2024, at Hospice of Kona’s Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born in Waipahu, Oahu, he was retired from Kealakehe Intermediate School’s maintenance department and a U.S. Army National Guard veteran. Visitation noon-1 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Honokohau Harbor. Dolores “Mama Dee” Caroline Gomes Machado, 87, of Kurtistown died Feb. 23 at home. Born on Oahu, she worked at the Navy Exchange at the former Naval Air Station Barbers Point, Mountain View Elementary School Cafeteria and as a home health caregiver, was a former member of the Eagles Club in Keaau and loved cooking, family and friends, animals, the outdoors, camping at the beach and hosting parties.
