KEALAKEHE — Kealakehe boys volleyball just continues to go on a roll.
On Wednesday evening inside the Waveriders’ gymnasium, the blue and white stormed back against the visiting Parker Bulls to win in five sets. It was Kealakehe’s fifth straight win and second consecutive match of winning in five sets.
The ‘Riders won the first set 25-18, but Parker quickly adjusted and won the next two frames 25-15 and 25-21 — playing stifling blocking defense at the net, which got Kealakehe’s attacking offense out of flow. The ‘Riders then responded well in the fourth set, routing Parker 24-14 to avoid the four-set loss and tie things up at 2-2.
In the decisive fifth set, Kealakehe won 15-9 to move to 5-1 on the year. The Bulls dropped to 5-2.
The ‘Riders will look to keep their streak going with a rematch against Hawaii Preparatory Academy on Wednesday inside Waimea’s Castle Gymnasium. When the two teams last squared off on March 6, Ka Makani won the five-set thriller after trailing 2-0.
Parker will look to get back to its winning ways with its next matchup against Kanu o ka ‘Aina on Wednesday inside Waimea District Park Gymnasium. When the two squads last met on March 3, the Bulls won in straight sets.
JV: Kealakehe wins 2-1 — 25-18, 22-25, 15-8.
