Konawaena boys volleyball started the state tournament strong on Monday inside Ellison Onizuka Gymnasium, beating the visiting Aiea Na Alii in consecutive sets. The Wildcats improved to 13-2 overall and advanced to play first-seeded Punahou in the quarterfinals later this week.

Aiea’s season has officially ended.
The green and white won by set scores of 25-23, 25-22 and 25-17.
Kona was led by Ellison Morgan in kills with 19, followed by sibling Elijah Morgan with 10. Braulio Medina Magana led the Wildcats in assists, dishing out a match-high 22. Kasen Andrade and Evin Wong each had four digs for Kona.
For Na Alii, Khendel Scully led the group with 14 kills and 13 assists. Teammate Cayden Uncango dished out a team-high 18 assists. Defensively, Dahven Hutchinson added five digs.
The Wildcats will dance with the Buffanblu for a state semifinals berth at 7 p.m. Thursday at Moanalua High School.
