HILO — Hawai‘i Hilo softball senior shortstop Jayda Favela was selected to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association All-West Region Second Team, capping a record-setting season and distinguished career as a Vulcan.
Favela’s West Region rankings: No. 2 assists per game (2.82), No. T5 hits (77), No. 6 batting average (.423), No. 6 stolen bases (22), No. 7 assists (138), No. 7 on-base percentage (.470), No. 8 runs (47).
Favela was one of seven student-athletes from the Pacific West Conference voted to the D2 CCA All-West Region Teams, which also included teams from the Great Northwest Athletic Conference and California Collegiate Athletic Association. Western Washington’s Maleah Andrews and Cal State East Bay’s Marissa Quintero were voted as Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year, respectively. The D2 CCA All-Region and All-America Teams are nominated and voted on by college sports communicators (sports information directors) from NCAA Division II schools and conferences.
The program’s all-time career stolen bases leader (77) was also selected to the All-PacWest First Team last month.
