Theresa C. McKinney, 87, of Hilo, died March 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born July 11, 1924, in California, she was a retired high school teacher.

No services are planned.

Dorothy Wada

Dorothy Haruko Wada, 81, of Captain Cook, died March 24 in Honolulu. She was born March 3, 1931.

Private services were held in Honolulu.

She is survived by son, Layne (Hae Sook) Wada, of Honolulu; sisters, Doris (Colbert) Nozaki, of Kailua-Kona, Edna Otsuka, of Holualoa, Ruby (Kenneth) Nakashima, of Honolulu; one granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.

Mitsue Yoneoka

Mitsue Yoneoka, 96, of Hilo, died March 26 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Aug. 28, 1915, in Honokaa, she was a housewife and member of Upper Kaumana Kumiai, Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Buddhist Women’s Association.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts.

She is survived by sons, Earl Yoneoka, Yukio Maeno and Raymond (Elvira) Yoneoka, all of Hilo, Richard Yoneoka, of North Carolina, Jerry Yoneoka, of Texas, Herbert Yoneoka and Harris (Diane) Yoneoka, both of Los Angeles; daughter, Margie (Francis) Iboshi, of Hilo; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Toshiko Muranaka

Toshiko Muranaka, 89, of Keaau, died March 17 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Oct. 26, 1922, in Keaukaha, she was a retired cook for the former Sheraton Hotel in Hilo and member of Hilo Hooganji Mission, Honomu Henjoji (Odaishisan) Mission and Hilo Daijingu Church.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary offerings.

She is survived by sons, Melvin (Sharon) Muranaka, of Keaau, Wallace (Yong) Muranaka, of Hilo; sister, Chieko (Takashi) Maki, of Monterey Park, Calif.; five grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Masashi Wagatsuma

Masashi Wagatsuma, 96, of Papaikou, died March 16 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Papaikou, he was a retired independent sugar cane planter and farmer and member of Hilo Coast United Church of Christ.

Private service were held.

He is survived by sons, Samuel Wagatsuma, of Honolulu, Albert Wagatsuma, of Papaikou; daughter, Jane (Jerry) Hamamoto, of Hilo; one grandchild.

Juan Bustamante

Juan “Safea” Bustamante, 58, of Mountain View, died March 29 at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 7, 1953, in Utulei, American Samoa, he was an adult corrections officer for the state Department of Public Safety, assistant coach for Hilo Rain Softball Team and Army veteran.

Friends may call at 5 p.m. April 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

Tadaaki “Darling” Egusa, 96, of Papaaloa, died March 22 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born June 1, 1915, in Papaaloa, he was a retired journeyman welder for the former Laupahoehoe Sugar Co. and Hamakua Sugar Co., as well as a Papaaloa Hongwanji member.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary offerings.

He is survived by wife, Tatsue Egusa, of Papaaloa; son, Newton (Lynette) Egusa, of Hilo; daughters, Norma (Harvey) Shima, of Honolulu, Willa (Alton) Nakamichi, of Hilo; sisters, Masae Tamamoto and Asako (Stanley) Tanaka, both of Hilo; one granddaughter; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Richard Spooner

Richard “Dick” Daniel Spooner, 64, of Waikoloa, died April 4 at his residence. Born May 31, 1947, in Chicago, he was a sales executive in cable television hardware and viewership ratings businesses, a licensed mortgage broker and Vietnam war veteran.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. April 16 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery for a service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society.

He is survived by wife, Deanna Spooner, of Waikoloa; sons, Rick (Cristy) Spooner, of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., Rob Spooner, of Vernon Hills, Ill., Darius Palmer, of Anaheim, Calif.; brothers, Jerome Spooner, of Kailua-Kona, Patrick Spooner, of Carol Stream, Ill., Ted Spooner, of Portland, Ore.; sisters, Linda Spooner, of Carlsbad, N.M., Melody (Neil) Skillman, of Tryon, N.C., Laurie (Eddie Cisneros) Webb, of Summerland Key, Fla.; five granddaughters; numerous nieces and nephews.
