Hilo man, woman arrested for theft

Big Island police have charged a Hilo man and woman in connection with a July 27 Hilo burglary.

Jesse Idebond Sablan, 36, and Dana Sablan, 21, were charged at 11:10 a.m. July 27 with one count each of second-degree burglary and fourth-degree theft. Bail was set at $11,000 for Jesse Sablan and at $2,250 for Dana Sablan. Both were held at the Hilo police cell block pending their initial court appearance scheduled Monday.

Friday shortly after midnight, officers responded to a business on Kekuanaoa Street in Hilo to a report that two suspects had removed two bags of recyclables and were fleeing the area. Police arrested both suspects and recovered the stolen property.

Anyone with information on recent burglary activities is asked to call Detective John Rodrigues Jr. at 961-2384 or Detective Royce Serrao at 961-8810.

Those who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in Kona or 961-8300 in Hilo and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. — WHT
