Edward Silva Sr.

Edward Lionel Silva Sr., 87, of Hilo, died Aug. 16 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired director of personnel services with Hawaii County and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and its Parish Council, the Young Men’s Institute and numerous other organizations and boards.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Aug. 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 9:30 a.m. Mass. Burial follows at Homelani Memorial Park. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by sons, Edward (Manuela) Silva Jr. and Michael (Delia) Silva, both of Hilo; daughters, Marilyn (Vernal) Veincent, of Hilo, Michelle (Harding) Fragas, of Keaau; sister, Joanna Silva, of Hilo; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
