Samson Wana

Samson “Sam” Bohol Wana, 68, of Hilo, died Aug. 19 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired police sergeant with the Hawaii County Police Department and most recently airport security manager for Securitas at Hilo International Airport. He was also a member of the Hilo Hawaiian Men’s Golf Club, Fil-Am Golf Club and State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers and a Navy veteran.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Aug. 29 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. wake service. Friends may also call at 9 a.m. Aug. 30 at the chapel for an 11 a.m. service. Burial follows at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Pamela Wana, of Hilo; sons, Samson (Selma) Wana Jr., Walter (Aimee) Wana and Dana (Maile Moresh) Wana, all of Hilo, Devin (Lily) Wana, of Kona; Stepsons, Kelden Ogawa and Shane (Kim) Ogawa, both of Hilo; daughter, Glenn-Dee (Steven Carreira) Kuwaye, of Hilo; hanai sons, Walter (Nicole) Ah Mow, of Kona, Aaron Arbles, of Hilo; hanai daughter, Kanoe (Robert) Keanaaina, of Kona; brothers, Engracio (Mary) Bohol Jr., of Pennsylvania, Douglas Bohol, of Anchorage, Alaska; sisters, Lillian Chuk and Serefina Jones, both of Montana; 19 grandchildren; one hanai granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
