Big Island police have located Nicole Adams, Michael Galon, Sean Gregory and Curtis “Hoku” Kekahuna Jr. thanks to tips from Kona residents and Neighborhood Watch groups.

Police Chief Harry Kubojiri late Thursday afternoon personally commended the community for its efforts and willingness to help police. He said, in his law enforcement career, he has never seen such a response.

“If you go on the whole concept of Neighborhood Watch where the community is the extra eyes and ears for the police department, I can’t think of a better example that to say ‘look what happened in the last two days here in Kona. It’s amazing what can be done when we work together.’

“Kudos to the community.”

Adams, Kekahuna Jr. and Joshua Watan, who was arrested on Wednesday, remain in police custody at the Kona Police Cellblock. Gregory and Galon were questioned and subsequently released pending further investigation, according to detectives.

All were sought by police on warrants of arrest or for questioning. Police also idenfitied them, and several others, as persons of interest in their investigation into a rash of burglary and car crimes in South Kona.

In relation to the arrests, Kubojiri also noted police recovered two stolen cars, and possibly a third stolen vehicle. Search warrants are being pursued for the vehicles’ contents.

Police are still working to locate Joel Landsborough and Danny Estocado, who have outstanding warrants or are wanted for questioning. The two were also identified by police as persons of interest in the South Kona investigation.

Landsborough, 24, of Kailua-Kona, is wanted on a $300 warrant for contempt of court. He is described as 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing about 145 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair. He has a tattoo of the Hawaiian islands on the right side of his chest.

Estocado, 24, of Kailua-Kona, is wanted for questioning in connection with an unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle investigation. He is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing about 178 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He has a tribal tattoo on the left side of his chest.

Police ask that the public not approach Landsborough or Estocado, as they may be armed and dangerous. Instead, the public should call the department’s nonemergency line at 935-3311. Those who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers at 329-8181 in Kona or 961-8300 in Hilo. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
