Joan Dempster
Joan Lee Dempster, 71, of Paauilo Mauka and formerly of Honolulu, died Oct. 6 at her residence. Born April 18, 1941, in Sonora, Calif., she pursued several careers and avocations including hotel promotion, psychological testing and homemaking and community volunteer, specializing in community planning, oral histories and historic preservation.
Private services are planned. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts. Memorial contributions may be sent to North Hawaii Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by husband, Duncan Dempster Sr. of Paauilo Mauka; son, Duncan (Ariana Eichelberger) Dempster Jr. of Honolulu; daughter, Fiona Dempster of Waimea; one grandson.
