Ford to speak
at Rotary meeting
Councilwoman Brenda Ford will speak at the Rotary Club of Kona Sunrise meeting slated from 6:45 to 7:45 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona.
Ford represents District 6, which includes South Kona, Ka‘u and Volcano.
Rotary provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build good will and peace in the world.
Breakfast is available at $10 per person. Rotarians and interested individuals are welcome to attend.

Legislative sessions streamed live at Hawaii’s libraries
Hawaii residents are invited to see how the Legislature conducts its business at the Hawaii State Capitol building via streaming video at public libraries statewide.
Patrons may visit their local library and access the proceedings through designated Legislative Webcast computers. There is a one-hearing time limit. Bring headphones to listen, as the computers are muted.
Two or more people may simultaneously view the webcasts of legislative hearings, meetings and sessions, if space permits.

American Legion to hear about tax law
American Legion Kona Post 20 meets at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the meeting hall at Teshima’s Restaurant in Honalo.
Registered tax return preparer Don David will discuss changes to tax law, income adjustments, deductions and tax credits. He will answer any questions taxpayers may have.
All veterans and their families may attend the meeting. A $15 buffet dinner is served at 7 p.m.

Brain injury survivors meet Wednesday
The Brain Injury Support group meets from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawaiian Rehab Services, located mauka of Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union on Hualalai Road.
Carl Hoffman, a traumatic brain injury survivor, and his wife, Alice, will share the story of his rehab experiences and his continuing journey. A banjo player and bluegrass musician, he will share how music has been instrumental in his recovery.

Hunt to discuss
health care revolution
Tutu’s House in Waimea will host a lecture about the Hawaii Island “health care revolution” presented by the Hawaii Island Beacon Community.
From 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Susan Hunt, Hawaii Island Beacon Community CEO, will discuss innovations available to support patients with complex and chronic illnesses, coordinating care and sharing information across multiple health care settings, and improving communication and collaboration between hospitals and physicians.
Attendees will also be introduced to Blue Button for Medicare. Blue Button engages seniors to be active participants in their own health care. Bring a smartphone or computer to try it out during this hands-on session for anyone on Medicare or assisting a Medicare recipient.
