Who will dispose
of the rubbish?
I have noticed an increased amount of dumping on Alii Drive in the past months. I live here and have tried to get the owner/developer to remove the unsightly abandoned vehicle, couches and trash, but they don’t respond to me. I called the Realtor in charge of the property. He said it is not his job to police the dumping. I’ve called the county and left many messages asking for help, but no one calls me back.
Who can we depend on to clean up this eyesore?
We can’t blame the tourists for this disrespect of the aina as we do so often when we want to complain about things. This is a local problem. Do we want our children to see and accept this as a solution to a trash problem? Do we want visitors to drive past this and think we don’t care what our town looks like?
I would haul this stuff off if I could, but I don’t have a vehicle large enough to handle it all. Shame on those who dump and shame on our people for not caring enough to take care of this dumpsite and many others in our town.

Mayor acclaimed,
De Lima shamed
It’s nice to see that Mayor Billy Kenoi disagrees with the pay raises. But it’s very disheartening that commissioner Brian De Lima doesn’t think $225,000 is a lot of money. This is the type of thinking that got us into this mess.
Maybe what we should do is lower the other salaries in relation to the mayor’s. From what I can remember of being a civil servant is you expect less pay because of your benefits and retirement.
Also I don’t understand four executive assistants; maybe I grew up in a different world.
Thank you, mayor, and please stand your ground.
