The Hawaii County Board of Ethics meets at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hawaii County Building, 25 Aupuni St., No. 1501, Hilo. Board meetings are open to the public. The agenda is posted on the county’s website.

Kona Krew
hosting speaker

The Kona Krew chapter of Business Network International meets from 7:15 to 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at Island Naturals on Kaiwi Street. During the meeting, Rebecca Logan, a Hawaii licensed health insurance broker with Aloha Insurance Services will give a five-minute presentation about the importance of income protection. Visitors are welcome to attend the free event.

Line dancing classes begin Thursday

Line dancing classes are held Thursdays at the Kona United Methodist Church on Palani Road. The next eight-week session begins Thursday and runs through Aug. 29. Classes for beginners are slated from 6 to 7 p.m.; lessons for experienced dancers run from 7 to 8 p.m. The cost is $35 for one class and $49 for both hours. A single night drop-in fee is $7 for one class and $9 for both. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes — no brand-new athletic shoes.

All ages are welcome; children younger than 12 may attend for free.

Town meeting slated Thursday in Waimea

Hawaii County Mayor Billy Kenoi and his cabinet — including a number of new department directors — top the agenda for the Waimea Community Association’s Town Meeting slated to begin at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the Waimea School cafeteria.

The community is invited to the meetings, typically held the first Thursday of the month. There are no membership dues; participants are urged to bring nonperishable food items or contribute to a food pantry via cash or check.

Traffic safety committee
meeting Thursday

The Kona Traffic Safety Committee meets at 5 p.m. Thursday at the West Hawaii Civic Center’s Community Halau, Building G. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet with county and state officials who can help mitigate traffic safety problems.

The committee meets the second Thursday of each month. Parking is available in the makai lot next to Building G.
