Tammy Ke

The family of Tammy “Ipo” “Baba” Kuuipo-Nohea Ke, 54, of Naalehu, who died Nov. 8, have added another memorial service scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Nov. 23 at the Jehovah’s Witnesses (Kingdom Hall) in Naalehu. Ke is also a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses in Naalehu.

Kiyomi Hagio,

Kiyomi Hagio, 91, of Volcano died Nov. 19, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born May 15, 1922, in Pahoa, she was the co-proprietor of H. Hagio Farm and member of Taishoji Soto Mission, Taishoji Fujinkai and Fukuoka Kenjinkai.

Friends may call at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 25 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by son, Hiram (Noreen) Hagio of Kapaau; daughters, Sharon Hagio of Honolulu, Ruby (Carl) Soares of Hilo; brothers, Yoshimi (Sumiko) Oishi of Japan, Stanley (Hiroko) Oishi of Pahoa; sister, Edith Iwata of Pahoa; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Edison Akina

Edison Akina, 53, of Mountain View died Nov. 6, 2013. He was born in Honolulu.

He is survived by wife, Sharon Kaahu; mothers, Valerie Sephton and Betty Akina; father, Lot Akina; daughter, Valerie (David) Kaahu; brothers, Lloyd (Debrah) Akina, Russell Akina, Lot (Kim) Akina III, Troy (Kaui) Oliveira, James (Christine) Sephton Jr.; sisters, Jacqueline (Tom) Cline, Kimeberly (Micheal) Ullrich, Jennifer Boatwright; one grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Maria J. De Reis, 57, of Hilo died Nov. 3, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she retired as a billing specialist for Mauna Kea Medical Services.

She is survived by husband, James De Reis of Hilo; mother, Genevieve Badua of Hilo; sons, Christian (Patty) Alameda and Elton Alameda, both of Hilo; daughters, Lesley (Curt) Wuerflein of Colorado, Angela (Mugen) De Reis of California; brothers, Mario (Jackie) Badua Jr. of San Diego, Curtis (Verna) Badua of Puna; sisters, Flora (Rudy) Ojano of Pepeekeo, Lorie (Larry) Yokem of Honolulu; three grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

LaDonna Clarke

LaDonna “Nohea” Gayle Clarke, 83, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 15, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Sept. 19, 1930, in Minneapolis, she was a homemaker and former hula dancer for the late George Naope Kupuna Hula Halau.

Private services were held.

She is survived by husband, Eugene Clarke of Kailua-Kona; brother, Richard Rosland of Las Vegas.

Roxanne Kapoi

Roxanne “Nani” Momilani Kapoi, 59, of Kona died Nov. 13, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. She was born in Honolulu.

She is survived by partner, Billie Beamer of Kona; brothers, Andrew Kapoi of Washington, Christopher Kapoi of Texas, Beckley Kalani of Hilo, Richard Kapoi of Washington; sisters, Alice Kapoi, Rosanna Kapoi and Angel Kalani, all of Honolulu, Bernice Kalani of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Harukichi Nakamoto

Harukichi Nakamoto, 79, of Hilo died Nov. 2, 2013, at home. Born in Pahala, he was the retired owner of H. Nakamoto Painting Contractor.

He is survived by wife, Doris Nakamoto of Hilo; sons, Derek (Joy) Nakamoto and Dale (Lisa) Nakamoto, both; daughters, Lynn Shindo of Hilo, Zina (Troy Perry) Lee of Wailuku, Maui; brothers, Michitaka (Daisey) Nakamoto of Hilo, Saneyuki Nakamoto of Maryland; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

Ruth Ogawa

Ruth Satsuki Miyamoto Ogawa, 99, of Hilo died Nov. 1, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. She was born May 12, 1914, in Ookala.

She is survived by son, Robert (Charlene) Ogawa Jr., of Hilo; daughter, Roann Ogawa, of Ann Arbor, Mich.; one granddaughter.

Itsuko Sugai

Itsuko Sugai, 88, of Hilo died Nov. 5, 2013, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born March 10, 1925, in Kohala, she was retired from Hilo Hospital as a housekeeper.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by sons, Ted (Sharon) Sugai and Myles Sugai, both of Hilo; one granddaughter; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Shizuko Teshima

Shizuko M. Teshima, 106, of Honalo died Oct. 22, 2013, at her home. Born in Honalo, she was the owner of Teshima Restaurant, an honorary member of the Mauka Rotary Club and Business and Professional Women’s Club and member of Daifukuji Soto Mission, Hiroshima Kenjin Kai and the Kawanui I Kumi (Mauka).

Services were held.

She is survived by sons, Harold (Minnie) Teshima and Ernest Teshima, both of Honalo, Ted (Nancy) Teshima of Palos Verdes, Calif.; daughter, Irene (Yoshiyuki) Izumi of Honalo; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great grandchildren.

Dennis Rodrigues Jr

John Dennis Rodrigues Jr., 36, of Keaau died Nov. 9, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he worked as a cook for Blane’s Drive Inn.

He is survived by mother, Juanita Rivera of Honolulu; son, Thaizen Ribordy of Keaau; sisters, Sabrina Leonard of Texas, Angela Rodrigues of California, Rainy Rodrigues of Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Janis Weiss

Janis Lee Weiss, 57, of Kealakekua died Nov. 13, 2013, at Hospice’s Nakamaru Hale in Holualoa. Born July 11, 1956, in Philadelphia, she was a teacher at Konawaena High School.

Private services will be held.

She is survived by brother, Merkle (Flora Jean) Weiss of Sun Valley, Calif.; two nephews.
