FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Garrett Nevels scored 24 points to lead Hawaii over Northern Arizona 76-66 on Saturday.
The score was even at 25 at intermission with Hawaii — averaging 87 points per game — making up for a rebound disadvantage (17-13) by forcing ten NAU turnovers.
Both teams opened aggressively in the second half with 21 points scored in the first 3 minutes. By the time play relaxed, Hawaii led 45-37 following a pair of Nevels jumpers and Davis Rozitis layups.
The Warriors (6-2) maintained that margin over the next six minutes before opening a 17-point lead with 4:54 remaining. The Lumberjacks (2-7) closed the gap to eight, but Hawaii’s Keith Shamburger went 8-of-8 from the free throw line in the final two minutes to preserve the win.
Hawaii also posted 14 steals and 6 blocked shots.

Colorado (9-1) squandered a six-point lead with 1:44 left and Kansas tied the game with a bucket by Perry Ellis with 4 seconds left. But after a timeout, Buffs forward Xavier Johnson got the ball to Booker, who dribbled a few paces past half court — about even with where John Elway’s courtside seats were located — and launched the shot that hit nothing but net.

Bryce DeJean-Jones scored 16 points, Khem Birch had 12 and Roscoe Smith 10 for the Rebels (3-4) in their first road game of the season.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (6-3) rallied from an 18-9 deficit to grab the last of several small leads at 41-39 before Louisville turned up the intensity on both ends.
