Alice Legaspi

Alice Filoteo Legaspi, 91, of Hilo died Nov. 19, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 30, 1922, in Waiakea, she was retired from Kilauea Inn, K K Tei Restaurant and the 50th State Bar; member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo and client of Hawaii Island Adult Care.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 14 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Alae Cemetery, section C. Family requests aloha or casual attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Roy (Shirley) Legaspi of Hilo; daughters, Lita (Glenn) Taguchi, Eleanor (John) Bello and Marcella Stroh, all of Hilo; sisters, Anita Cadaoas and Lillian Naih, both of Hilo; brothers, Larry (Shirley) Castillias and Ronald (Donna) Castillias, both of Puna; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Janet Borling

Janet Soares Medeiros Borling, 81, of Mountain View died Dec. 8, 2013, at her residence. Born June 14, 1932, in Hilo, she was a homemaker and member of the Theresa Catholic Church in Mountain View.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 16 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for an 11 a.m. service. Burial follows at Alae Cemetery, section K. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by sons, Manuel (Tina) Borling Jr. of Waianae, Oahu, Ralph (Winnie) Borling of Mountain View, Leroy (Amy) Borling of Alaska; daughters, Theresa (David Sr.) Caravalho and Helen (Ernest Sr.) Caravalho, both of Kona, Deborah Salas and Maryann (William) Estrella, both of Waianae, Oahu; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Yukiko Asato

Yukiko Asato, 76, of Pepeekeo died Dec. 5, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 18, 1937, in Kumejima, Okinawa, Japan, she was retired from Hiro’s Place and member of Honomu Hongwanji Mission, Buddhist Women’s Association, Hui Okinawa, Hilo Okinawan Cultural Club and Kulaimano Retired Senior Club.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

He is survived by sons, Darrell Asato of Honolulu, Chad Asato of Pepeekeo; daughter, Maxine (Reid) Yamamoto of Kaneohe, Oahu; brothers, Rinsei (Kiyoko) Kuniyoshi of Kumejima, Okinawa, Japan, Masaharu Kuniyoshi of Naha, Okinawa, Japan; sister, Etsuko (Masahiko) Yamauchi of Yomitan, Okinawa, Japan; two grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Norman Egusa

Norman Rikio Egusa, 65, of Hilo died Nov. 29, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 5, 1948, in Hilo, he was a former building inspector for the state Department of Accounting and General Services, a contractor and proprietor of the former Egusa Contracting Co. in Hilo.

Friends may call at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 18 at Dodo Mortuary chapel in Hilo for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

He is survived by wife, Janice Egusa of Hilo; sons, Donny (Kimberly Kidani) Egusa of Pepeekeo, Davin (Janelle Rosario) Egusa of Mountain View, Darwin Egusa and Lawrence (Moani) Egusa-Eckart, both of Hilo; brothers, Warren (Merle) Egusa and Ernest (Denise) Egusa, both of Hilo; sister, Carol (Milton) Nakatsu of Hilo; eight grandchildren; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.

Wendy Fletcher

Wendy Joyce Fletcher, 60, of Keaau died Dec. 4, 2013, at her home. Born Sept. 1, 1953, in Philadelphia, she was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She is survived by sons, Jason Skeba of Phoenix, Chris Sprauge of Philadelphia; companion, Arthur Molter of Keaau; three grandchildren.

Leroy Fry

Leroy “Butch” Paul Fry, 75, of Keaau died Nov. 29, 2013, at his residence. Born in Lodi, Calif., he was a carpenter and sailor.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Celeste Volivar-Fry of Keaau; sons, Andy (Heidi) Fry of Moorea, French Polynesia, Tevaite Fry of San Diego; daughter, Nicolette (Randal) Smith of Costa Rica; hanai daughter, Corinne Kanno of Hilo; hanai brothers, Gerald (Ruth) Allen of Kailua-Kona, Stanley Conrad of Arizona; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

Shigeko Matsuda

Shigeko Matsuda, 97, of Pahoa died Nov. 29, 2013, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born Dec. 28, 1915, in Kipapa, Oahu, she was a retired farmer and member of Puna Hongwanji Mission, Buddhist Women’s Association, Pahoa Nikkei Jin Kai and Kyu Pahoa Kumiai.

Private services were held. Family requests no monetary gifts or flowers.

She is survived by sons, Albert (Lillian) Matsuda of Hilo, Edwin (Ellen) Matsuda of Cypress, Calif.; daughter, Dorothy Kansako of Honomu; sister, Keeko Takasaki of Japan; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Yoshio Tomori

Yoshio Tomori, 90, of Hilo died Nov. 28, 2013, at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born March 27, 1923, in Hilo, he was a retired general contractor and member of Honomu Henjoji Mission (Odaishisan) and Honolulu Koboji Shingon Mission.

Private services were held.

He is survived by son, Craig (Aileen) Tomori of Hilo; daughters, Marilyn Thompson, Meryl Farmer and Robin Tomori, all of Hilo; brother, Takashi Tomori of Honolulu; sisters, Makiko Kojiro and Hiroko Tomori, both of Hilo; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
