Rachel Mendoza

Rachel Mesa Mendoza, 57, of Kapaau died Dec. 5, 2013, at her home. Born Nov. 13, 1956, in Phoenix, she was a homemaker.

Friends may call at 9:30 a.m Dec. 21 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hawi for a 10 a.m. service. A celebration of her life follows at the family residence at 54-2424 Kynnersly Road. For information, call (541) 550-6265.

She is survived by husband, Henry Mendoza of Kapaau; daughters, Marcella Mendoza of Kapaau, Amelia Mendoza of Arizona; son, Henry Mendoza Jr. of Oregon; 12 grandchildren; numerous sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews.

Henry Rafael

Henry “Kaleo” Rafael, 63, of Pahala died Dec. 3, 2013, at Ka‘u Hospital. Born in South Kohala, he was a retired construction worker for Watkins Paving Service.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 21 at Mohouli Park. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will follow.

He is survived by companion, Karen Cakin of Pahala; sons, Kalani Silva of Hilo, Henry Rafael Jr. of Honolulu, Avery Keoloha of Waianae, Oahu; daughters, Lynsay Richter of Aiea, Oahu, Rodlynn Keoloha, Rainy Keoloha, Raquel Keoloha, Reesa Keoloha, Robyn Keoloha and Rickylei Rafael, all of Waianae, Oahu; hanai daughters, Gina Sanchez of Honolulu, Leslie Balanon of Aiea, Oahu; brother, Philliipo Rafael of Nahalehu; sisters, Marcella Rafael and Kanani Rafael, both of Hilo; seven grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Annabelle Relles

Annabelle “Bella” Relles, 59, of Hawi died Dec. 8, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born July 14, 1954, in North Kohala, she was a former prep cook for Hyatt Regency Waikoloa, Paniolo Country Inn, Parker Ranch Broiler and Blue Dolphin Restaurant and a former member of Kalahikiola Congregational Church.

Friends may call at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 21 at the family’s Kaauhuhu Homestead residence, 55-1113 Aina Ui Road, for an 11 a.m. service that will be followed by a celebration of her life. For information, call 938-2641.

She is survived by husband, Llewellyn Relles of Hawi; sister, Rose (John) Stevens of Hawi; brother, Bill (Nani) Neves of Kapaau; one aunt; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Russell Aninion

Russell Jason Aninion, 53, of Keaau died Dec. 5, 2013, at his home. Born in Wahiawa, Oahu, he was a heavy equipment diesel mechanic and a musician.

Katherine Grgich

Katherine “K.G.” Ann Grgich, 55, of Palm Springs, Calif., died Sept. 23, 2013. Born Feb. 6, 1958, in Santa Barbara, Calif., she was a masseuse, reiki master and artist.

She is survived by parents, George and Susan Grgich; sisters, Amy Grgich, Jennifer (Tom Harden) Grgich.

Gilbert Anzai Jr.

Gilbert Tadashi Anzai Jr., 52, of Hilo died Nov. 27, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a tile setter and member of the Mason’s Union.

He is survived by daughters, Tiffany (Dylan Bolos) Anzai and Alexis (Cody Silva) Anzai, both of Hilo; companion, Zenda Kahookele of Hilo; parents, Gilbert and Violet Anzai of Honolulu; brother, Kevin Anzai of Honolulu; sisters, Roxanne (Willie) Kau and Rochelle (Derek) Koki, both of Honolulu; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Elaine Miyashiro

Elaine Tami Miyashiro, 83, of Hilo died Nov. 24, 2013, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center in Hilo. Born Dec. 20, 1929, in Hilo, she was a retired salesclerk at Honsport and Hilo Sporting Goods and member of Hui Okinawa.

Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary gifts.

She is survived by sons, Mike (Yvonne) Miyashiro of Hilo, Neil Miyashiro of Austin, Texas; daughter, Aileen Miyashiro of Hilo; brother, Makoto Chibana of Hilo; sister, Carol (Fred) Shimabukuro of Hilo; three grandchildren; numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

Hazel Ho

Hazel Lani Ho, 78, of Keaau died Nov. 26, 2013, at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Koloa, Kauai, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by brother, Clinton Yoshioka; sisters, Henrietta Borgess, Jane Tolentino, Rosaline Lum; seven children; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

Harry Trewman

Harry “Cris” Crispin Richard Trewman, 88, of Naalehu died Nov. 11, 2013, at his home. Born Sept. 1, 1925, in London, he was a marine engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineers Science &Technology.

Services were held. Memorial offerings will be sent to The Royal Naval Lifeboat Institute.

He is survived by wife, Carol Trewman of Naalehu; son, Ashley (Katherine) Trewman of California; daughters, Susan Trewman of England, Cindy Trewman of California; sister, Tessa (Clive) Tulloch of England; one granddaughter; one niece; one nephew.
