Ry-Lee Sele-Pang

Ry-Lee Sele-Pang, 1, of Hilo died Nov. 27, 2013, at Queen’s Medical Center. He was born May 7, 2012, in Hilo.

A celebration of life will begin at noon Dec. 22 at the Wailoa State Park, pavilion 3.

He is survived by mother, Tyaony Luis-Kahalioumi of Hilo; father, Lolilo Sele-Pang of Hilo; sister, Ty-Lee Cadaoas of Hilo; maternal grandparents, Kristen and Tara Kahalioumi of Kona; paternal grandmother, Luella Pang of Hilo; great-grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Margaret Contento

Margaret Kuhea Contento, 83, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 3, 2013, at her residence. Born March 2, 1930, in Honolulu, she retired as owner of Contento Travel in Menlo Park, Calif., was a booking agent for Hawaiian Airlines and the former Aloha Airlines; former member of Na Kupuna Ola Kona, Daughters of Hawaii, Kaahumanu Society and Alu Like and a hula dancer with Keala Ching’s hula halau.

Friends may call at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 27 at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona for a 9 a.m. service and burial. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Antonio Contento Jr. of Kailua-Kona; son, Bradley Contento of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Agnes Lee of Honolulu, Virginia Thames of San Diego, Lei Akina of Aiea, Oahu; one grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Troy Pattioay

Troy “Poki” Keoki Pattioay, 31, of Keaau died Nov. 29, 2013. Born in Honolulu, he was a landscaper at C&S Land Clearing and Hauling.

He is survived by son, Aubren Pattioay of Hilo; daughter, Kyree Pattioay of Hilo; brothers, Cleighton (Tiffany) Pattioay of Kona, Courtney (Ashley) Pattioay of Keaau; sisters, Shonna (Chad) Soares and Joylynne (Joe Silva) Pattioay-Hamamoto, both of Keaau, Amber (Mark) Gomes of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, hanai brothers and sisters.

Paul Martin

Paul Edward Martin, 51, of Kona and Hilo died Dec. 10, 2013. Born July 4, 1962, in Van Nuys, Calif., he was a furniture refinisher, real estate investor and entrepreneur.

He is survived by wife, Gina Martin of Hilo; son, Paul Martin of Hilo; daughter, Summer Martin of Hilo; brothers, Richard (Joanie) Martin and Bill (Shari) Martin, all of Honolulu, Ben Martin of Pahoa; sisters, Mary (Bruce) Yannell of Kaneohe, Oahu, Rita (Joey) Forseca of Pahoa, Laura (François) Martin of France; numerous nieces and nephews.

Seikichi Miyashiro

Seikichi “Jimmy” Miyashiro, 93, of Hilo died Nov. 4, 2013, at home. Born in Waiakea Uka, Camp 6 in Hilo, he was a retired machinist with the former Hilo Sugar Co.; a World War II Army veteran and member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Hui Okinawa and Hilo Okinawan Cultural Club.

Private services were held.

He is survived by wife, Tomoe Miyashiro of Hilo; sons, Alvin (Charlene) Miyashiro and Edward Miyashiro, both of Hilo, Jay Miyashiro of Honolulu; daughter, Amy (Norman) Kunimura of Honolulu; four grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Evelyn Mertz

Evelyn Ruth Mertz, 95, of Waikoloa died Dec. 2, 2013, at her home. Born March 10, 1918, in Allentown, Pa., she was a retired office clerk for an oil company and member of Waikoloa Baptist Church.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Jan. 5 at Waikoloa Baptist Church for a service. Family requests in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made in her name to Waikoloa Baptist Church or North Hawaii Hospice.

She is survived by daughter, Patricia (Robert) Althouse of Waikoloa; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Marjorie Sumner

Marjorie M. Murray Sumner, 83, of Hilo died Dec. 6, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Aug. 10, 1930, in Hilo, she retired from Pan American Airlines.

Friends may call at 11 a.m. Jan. 5 at Kailua Beach Pavilion on Oahu for a service. Friends may also call at 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at the family’s Keaukaha beach house on Hawaii Island for a service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by daughter, Bambi Sumner Abalos of Pearl City, Oahu; sons, Reed Sumner and Charles Sumner, both of Hilo; brothers, Donald Murray of Hilo, Robert Murray of Seattle, Melvin Murray of Austin, Texas, Bruce Murray of Carlson, Calif.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
