HONOLULU — Christian Standhardinger made a 14-foot baseline jumper with 1.4 seconds left as Hawaii beat Saint Mary’s 76-74 in a thrilling consolation semifinal of the Diamond Head Classic on Monday.

Standhardinger scored 14 of his game-high 22 in the first half and three other players scored in double-figures for the Rainbow Warriors (8-3). Isaac Fotu scored 13 points, Brandon Spearman 12 and Aaron Valdes added 10. Standhardinger was just 4 of 12 from the field, but 14 of 17 on free throws. Hawaii shot 22 of 29 (75.9 percent) from the free-throw line and 50 percent from the field.

Brad Waldow had 17 points and James Walker III added 16 to lead the Gaels (9-2), who committed 17 turnovers.

There were 11 ties and five lead changes in the game.

Hawaii will play Oregon State in the fifth-place game, while Saint Mary’s will meet George Mason in the seventh-place game Wednesday.

No. 14 Iowa State 83, Akron 60

Georges Niang scored 15 of his 22 points in the second half and Iowa State beat Akron to match the best start in school history.

Melvin Ejim had 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Cyclones, who improved to 10-0 for the first time since 1996-97 season. DeAndre Kane added 15 points and 11 boards.

Iowa State will play Boise State for the championship Wednesday night.

Reggie McAdams led Akron (6-3) with 13 points.

Boise State 80, South Carolina 54

Anthony Drmic scored 30 points to lead Boise State.

Mikey Thompson added 10 points for Boise State (10-2).

Brenton Williams led the Gamecocks (3-6) with 14 points and Duane Notice added 13.

Drmic scored 21 points in the first half and looked to be on pace to match his career high of 34 points.

The Broncos built a double-digit lead just nine minutes into the game. Boise State scored from all directions, driving into the lane for layups and hitting 3-pointers. Boise State forced 11 first-half turnovers and converted that into 12 points.

Oregon State 58, George Mason 54

Roberto Nelson scored eight of his 17 points in the final minute to help Oregon State in a consolation round game.

Devon Collier added 15 points for Oregon State (7-3).

Bryon Allen had 15 points and Patrick Holloway hit four 3-pointers to finish with 12 points for George Mason (5-6).
