New children’s show debuts at Imiloa

Imiloa Astronomy Center premieres the new keiki show “Magic Tree House” at 10 a.m. Jan. 4.

Jack and Annie, the brother-sister duo will have a new adventure while learning about space in the world’s only full-dome planetarium show based on the “Magic Tree House” children’s book series.

Imiloa Astronomy Center will also offer its signature show, “Maunakea: Between Earth and Sky,” at 1 p.m., and the “Google Lunar XPRIZE Back to the Moon for Good” at 3 p.m. The 3-D live sky show “Skies Above Hawaii” will play at noon, and the 3-D “Awesome Light I: Big Mirrors on the Mountain” is scheduled for 2 p.m.

Codependent women’s group meets Monday

Co-Dependents Anonymous is a 12-step fellowship of men and women whose common purpose is recovery from codependence and the development and maintenance of healthy relationships.

The women’s meeting will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at Unity Church sanctuary, 75-5722 Hanama Place in Kailua-Kona.

State parks close early for New Year’s Eve

Hapuna, Kiholo and Kekaha Kai, including both Mahaiula and Kua Bay sections, will close at 5 p.m. on New Year’s Eve to discourage use of fireworks, which are prohibited in state parks.

The parks will resume normal hours Jan. 1. Kekaha Kai will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Hapuna and Wailea from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Libraries announce New Year’s hours

On New Year’s Eve, the library in Naalehu will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Kailua-Kona will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All public libraries will be closed New Year’s Day.
