Terry Teruyo Mitsuyoshi, 64, of Hilo died Dec. 19, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired teacher at Keaau Elementary School and member of the Ahualani Community Association. Friends may call at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 30 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 3:30 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Earl Mitsuyoshi of Hilo; daughter, Jeni Mitsuyoshi of Honolulu; mother, Teruko Yamada of Hilo; sister, Carol (Gerald) Makino of Hilo; brothers, Robin Yamada and Gene (Martha) Yamada, both of Hilo; numerous nieces and nephews.

Gloria Smith

Gloria “Jeannie” Wright Smith, 64, of Folsom, Calif., died Dec. 22, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired accountant.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Dec. 30 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by husband, Howard Smith of Folsom, Calif.; daughter, Amber (Gilbert) Bostwick of Modesto, Calif.; son, Christopher (Zrinka) Smith of Rancho Cardova, Calif.; mother, Marcia Turner of Kurtistown; sister, Zelma (Herbert) Yadao of Oahu; brothers, John Wright Jr. of New Hampshire, Gregory Wright of Oahu; three grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Shirley Christman

Shirley Virginia Christman, 80, of Mountain View died Dec. 19, 2013, at Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Olaa, she was a retired medical transcriber for Bethesda Naval Hospital and an artist.

Friends may call at 9 a.m. Jan. 2 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo for a 10 a.m. service. Burial follows at Alae Cemetery. Family requests casual attire be worn.

She is survived by son, Guy Christman of Mountain View; brother, Frederick Tavares of Hilo; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rick Keefer

Rick Keefer, 67, of Pahoa died Dec. 17, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born April 13, 1946, in San Diego, he was the proprietor of Seawest Studios and a member of ASCAP and BMI.

No services are planned. Donations may be made to the Panaewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens in his memory.

He is survived by wife, Donna Keefer of Pahoa; brother, Robert Keefer of Escondido, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews.

Dee Moser

Dee Carson Moser, 62, of Hoapuloa, South Kona, died Dec. 16, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born May 12, 1951, in Clayton, Iowa, he was the owner of Dee Moser Pool and Spa, a former cook at the former King Kamehameha Hotel and member of the American Racing Pigeons Club.

Private services were held.

He is survived by sons, Todd Moser and Brock (Carrie) Madriaga, both of Kailua-Kona, Scott (Kimberly) West of Lisbon, Iowa, Calvert Madriaga of Captain Cook; daughter, Kathy (Brian) Baxter of Ocean View; brothers, Steve Moser of Missouri, Lynn (Christina) Moser of Iowa; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sharon Colburn

Sharon C. Medeiros Colburn, 65, of Keaau died Dec. 13, 2013, at her home. Born Oct. 22, 1948, in Hilo, she was the owner of Krane Inspection &Safety Services Inc.

She is survived by daughter, Lyssa Warren of Oregon; sons, Ron (Sandy) Phelan of Paradise Park, Sean (Tricia) Phelan of Hilo; mother, Aiko Medeiros of Papaikou; brothers, Virgil (Lorraine) Medeiros of Hilo, Ken Medeiros of Houston; sister, Audrey Balucan of Kailua-Kona; three grandchildren; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Matsuko Teragawa

Matsuko “Mats” Teragawa, 90, of Papaikou died Nov. 30, 2013, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Paauilo, she was a retired private housekeeper and member of Honomu Henjoji Mission.

She is survived by son, Thomas (Carol) Teragawa of Kauai; daughter, Iris Kansaku of Papaikou; brother, Yoshito (Florence) Kidani of Oahu; sister, Janice Koga of Oahu; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Charles Martinson

Charles “Mel” Melvin Martinson, 94, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 20, 2013, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Nov. 23, 1919, in Tacoma, Wash., he was a World War II Army veteran, worked as a telecommunications engineer and retired from Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone.

Private services were held.

He is survived by son, David (Dona) Martinson of Kailua-Kona; grandson, Justin (Adrianne) Martinson of Bellevue, Wash.

Marcel Hernandez

Marcel Llopis Hernandez, 100, of Honokaa died Dec. 22, 2013, at home. He was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Havana.

Service will be held at a later date.

He is survived by son, Marcel of Honokaa; daughters, Jane of Berkeley, Calif., Madeline of Montreal; two grandchildren; one great-grandson.
