Two cruise ships coming to Kona
Two cruise ships are scheduled to visit Kailua Bay this week, according to the state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation.
The MS Veendam is scheduled to be in the bay today and the Pride of America will visit the area on Wednesday.
Kona Elks plan open house brunch
The Kona Elks Lodge is hosting an open house and brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the lodge. The brunch features eggs benedict, Belgian waffles, homemade biscuits and gravy, lox and bagels, a chocolate fountain and other items for $18. There will be a no-host bar.

Libraries close for Martin Luther King Jr. Day
All public libraries will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Libraries normally closed on Mondays will be closed on Jan. 21, including Kailua-Kona and Thelma Parker Memorial public libraries.

Co-dependent men meeting today
A Co-dependents Anonymous men’s meeting is held from 6 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday at Access Capabilities, 74-5583 Pawai Place, Suite B125. The 12-step fellowship is for those whose common purpose is recovery from codependence and the development and maintenance of healthy relationships.

Hospice agencies receive funding
North Hawaii Hospice, Hilo Hospice and Hospice of Kona have received a $12,500 donation from Bank of Hawaii.
The donation, funded by a teri beef plate sale, was an employee-driven effort. Bank of Hawaii employees voted to choose the three hospice organizations as beneficiaries. The employees and hospice organizations sold 1,348 teri beef plate tickets islandwide.
More than 80 volunteers, the majority being Bank of Hawaii employees, volunteered more than 360 hours of their time to prepare, cook and serve the teri beef plates.
In addition to the manpower provided by local Bank of Hawaii representatives, the bank’s foundation also matched the funds raised with a $5,000 grant. KTA Super Stores provided the products and space for the fundraiser to take place.
