Lillian Russo

Lillian Kaleialoha Russo, 89, of Hilo died Jan. 21, 2014. Born in Honolulu, she was a retired supervisor for the Pearl Harbor Navy Exchange.

Friends may call at 4:30 p.m. Jan. 24 at the Volcano New Hope Church for a 5:30 p.m. service.

She is survived by sons, Stanley (Joann) Gomes of Honolulu, Peyton Siliado of Kauai; daughter, Iwalani (Moku) Young; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Helen Kaiawe

Helen Nana Kaiawe, 75, of Pepeekeo died Jan. 12, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Keauhou, she was a retired housekeeper with the former Kona Village Resort and president of the Pepeekeo (Kulaimano) Senior Citizens group.

Friends may call at 6 p.m. Jan. 27 at Dodo Mortuary chapel for a 7 p.m. service. Friends may also call at 10 a.m. Jan. 28 at Homelani Memorial Park for a committal service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

She is survived by daughter, Tina (Wayne) Mattos of Honomu; sons, Chucky (Candice) Kaiawe of Hilo, Aaron (Heather) Kaiawe of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Jack Kaiawe of Kealakekua, Moke (Glenna) Kaiawe of Honaunau; sisters, Fanny Duhaylongsod of Kauai, Elizabeth (Andrew) Bannister of Kealakekua, Lei Parker of Keauhou; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Donald Busscher

Donald Albert Busscher, 61, formerly of Honomalino Acres in South Kona, died Jan. 19, 2014, in Lewisville, Texas. He was born Aug. 24, 1952, in Highland Park, Ill.

Friends may call at 2 p.m. Feb. 1 at 14710 Hermes in Selma, Texas, for a service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riding Opportunities Promoting Exceptional Riders. Condolences may be posted at mulkeymason.com.

He is survived by wife, Wanda Busscher; daughter, Nicole Busscher; father, John Busscher; sister, Kathy (Tommy) Kaizer; brothers, John (Lynda) Busscher, Patrick (Linda) Busscher.

Jerry Uemura

Jerry Yoshimasa Uemura, 93, of Captain Cook died Jan. 13, 2014, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born in Kealakekua, he was a coffee farmer, carpenter and retired maintenance worker for Huggo’s.

Friends may call at 3 p.m. Feb. 1 at Kona Hongwanji Buddhist Temple in Kealakekua for a 4 p.m. service.

He is survived by wife, Katy Uemura of Captain Cook; sons, Dean (Lisa) Uemura of Captain Cook, Keith (Jan) Uemura of Honolulu; daughters, Lois (Dexter) Choy and Cynthia Fukuda, both of Mililani, Oahu, Sharon Mendoza of Las Vegas; brother, Yoshiharu (Marion) Uemura of Kaneohe, Oahu; sisters, Masae Ikehara of Aiea, Oahu, Norma (Mervyn) Ah Tou of Waipahu, Oahu; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Darlene Histo

Darlene Ann Histo, 75, of Mountain View died Jan. 4, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Sept. 26, 1938, in Denver, she was a retired painter for the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Shop 71 and founder of Hui Holo Lio.

No services are planned.

She is survived by husband, Hyime Histo Sr. of Mountain View; daughter, Diane Tulley; one brother; two grandsons.

Rosemary Jensen

Rosemary Jensen, 93, of Kona died Jan. 19, 2014, at her home. Born April 2, 1920, in Twin Falls, Idaho, she was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church in Twin Falls, Idaho, and a former member of PEO.

Private services will be held.

She is survived by sons, Ralph (Lin) Carpenter of Cave Creek, Ariz., Flint (Cassie) Carpenter and Gale (Julie) Carpenter, both of Kona, Rick (Lan) Carpenter of McMinnville, Ore.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

James Carey

James P. Carey, 63, of Hilo died Jan. 19, 2014, at home. Born Feb. 11, 1950, in Pasadena, Calif., he was a retired tile layer, a Vietnam War Army veteran and member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waianae, Oahu.

Private services were held.

He is survived by brothers, Edward (Teresa) Carey Jr. of California, Kevin Carey of Hilo; sisters, Maureen (Gary) Hammond, Sharon (Wil) Laurent, Therese (Anthony) Pontrelli and Patti (Ken) Miller, all of California, Eileen (David) Lovell of Hilo; one uncle; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patrick Lloyd Soares, 60, of Honolulu died Jan. 2, 2014, in Honolulu. Born Dec. 17, 1953, in Honolulu, he was an electrical engineer.
