Cancer support group meets Tuesday

A cancer support group meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Teshima’s Restaurant in Honalo.

People newly diagnosed with cancer and cancer survivors are welcome, as well as interested caregivers and supportive family members.

The group meets to share cancer-related issues and to lend support to one another. Women are encouraged to learn about breast cancer and early detection to help make informed decisions with their doctors about breast health.

Codependent men’s meetings held Tuesdays and Saturdays

A Co-dependents Anon-ymous men’s meeting is held from 6 to 7 p.m. every Tuesday and at 5 p.m. every Saturday at Access Capabilities, 74-5583 Pawai Place, Suite B125.

The 12-step fellowship is for those whose common purpose is recovery from codependence and the development and maintenance of healthy relationships. The nonprofit is supported by the voluntary contributions of attending members.

Three cruise ships arrive this week

Three cruise ships are scheduled to visit Kailua Bay this week, according to the Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation.

The Carnival Miracle is scheduled to be in the bay Monday, the Pride of America on Wednesday, and the MS Veendam on Friday.

Library offers sea turtle program

Matt Connelly from the Kohala Center will discuss sea turtles in Hawaii at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Kailua-Kona Public Library.

The free program is sponsored by Friends of the Libraries, Kona. If a sign language interpreter is needed, call the library in advance at 327-4327.

Kupuna singles meeting Tuesday

Kona Kupuna Singles Club meets for lunch at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Anthony’s. Call 322-9098 for more information and reservations.

Philanthropic group meeting Thursday

Members of the local chapter of Philanthropic Educational Organization and those visiting will gather at 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Sakura for a no-host winter luncheon. Sakura is located at 75-1027 Henry St. in Kailua-Kona, near Safeway.

This organization supports women’s education through scholarships, loans and grants.

Seniors group meets Wednesday

The Kailua-Kona Seniors will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. Members will participate in Super Bowl trivia.

Kealakehe principal speaking to Rotary

Kealakehe High School Principal Wil Murakami will discuss what is happening at the school, new state initiatives and plans for the school year at a meeting of Rotary Club of Kona Sunrise slated for 6:45 a.m. Wednesday at Hale Halawai in Kailua-Kona. Murakami will be joined by Linda Jeffrey, coordinator of the Kealakehe Parent Community Center.

Rotary Club of Kona Sunrise meets every Wednesday at Hale Halawai. Breakfast is $10 per person, payable at the door.

Soil, water district meeting Wednesday

The Mauna Kea Soil and Water Conservation District will meet from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resource Conservation Service service center, 67-1185 Mamalahoa Highway, Suite 148, Waimea.

Canadian party planned Thursday

A Canadian party will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Old Kona Airport Park’s Pavilion 3. Participants should bring a chair, a place setting, drinks and a dish to share.
